Description
The Murmuration Brooch is a handmade sterling silver brooch featuring a flock of seventeen birds in flight, moving together in a sweeping formation. Each bird is saw pierced by hand and hand engraved, then finished in polished 925 sterling silver. The composition has a sense of motion and intention that holds the eye easily. It’s a statement piece that feels expressive and grounded at the same time.
I make this handmade silver brooch in my Glasgow, Scotland studio. The piece has a satisfying weight, balanced by the elegance of the flock’s movement. Worn on a lapel, it reads clearly and confidently. Nested into a scarf, it takes on a quieter presence, revealing itself more slowly. The engraved detail and polished surface invite a closer look in both settings.

Customs & import fees
Buyers in the United States should be aware that tariffs imposed by the US Government will increase the base cost of each piece. We will pay these in advance to hasten clearance customs and avoid any surprise charges on receipt.
For customers outside the UK and USA, your order may be subject to import duties or customs fees once it arrives in your country. These are determined locally, so it’s worth checking in advance so you’re not surprised. Unfortunately I can’t cover or refund these charges.
If an item is returned to me because customs fees weren’t paid, I can issue a refund (minus shipping) once it’s safely back with me.
Sterling silver loves to be worn — your skin’s natural oils actually help keep it bright. When you’re not wearing it, tuck it away in an airtight pouch to slow down tarnish.
Keep it dry and away from lotions, perfumes, and cleaning products (they’re not its friends). When it needs a little refresh, use warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth — no dips or harsh cleaners, especially on oxidised pieces.
We’ll include a polishing cloth with every piece of jewellery. If it starts to look a bit dull, give it a gentle polish, avoiding areas that have oxidation (the blackened bit of silver).
